Biodiversity Offsetting

Developers use biodiversity offsetting, or biodiversity net gain, to propose new nature sites to compensate for losses caused by new development.

Ceres Property drafts heads of terms, working closely with solicitors who provide appropriate contracts. We also determine suitable payments to the landowner for the nature site.

Ceres Property has set up the Green Development Database to facilitate the introduction of developers to landowners, and vice versa.

Working with Ceres Rural, we help landowners appraise and implement biodiversity offsetting land and set out the requirements and costs. The Green Development Database then allows Ceres Property to advertise these biodiversity units for developers to acquire.
